Welcome to Summer School!
My name is Jeremy Everitt, and I am looking forward to teaching you I have a Bachelor of Science in environmental science and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Willamette University and have been teaching professionally since 1999. My wife, two daughters, and I make our home right here in Keizer.
I have two major goals for you: I would like you to learn about science and I would like you to refine your abilities to learn. Everything we do relates to one or both of those goals.
You will need a 3-ring binder, college-ruled notebook paper, dividers, and pens and pencils. It is recommended, but not required to have a 512 MB or larger Flash drive, scissors, Post-it notes (large enough to write upon), glue or glue stick, clear tape (like Scotch Tape), and a zipper pouch large enough for the materials and journal so things don’t get lost. If you need help getting some of these things, please let me know.
Be here every day. If you can't for some reason beyond your control, please use this site to stay on top of your work.
Please make sure you are keeping your parent/guardian in the loop on your progress. Once we figure out what you really need to work on, you will work toward each standard in succession. When you have completed all standards at a proficient level or higher (3+), you may be released from summer school after we have a conversation with your parent/guardian.
Grades will be tracked on Progradebook.com and I will give you a code to access your grade at any time.
If you need to get in touch with me, please contact me at school, through email – [email protected] – any time, phone – (503) 399-3233 – from 7:30-11:30, or schedule an appointment before or after school. You can also reach me on my Facebook page, but keep in mind the afternoon is time for me to spend with my family so you may not get an immediate response like you might from your friends.
This website will be your primary resource as you work this summer, but I do maintain a class website – http://mcnary.luckylab.net – that has other activities, links to resources and handouts.
I look forward to your success this summer and helping you get on track for an excellent year next year.
